About Course

The STAAR Exam Preparation Syllabus is designed to comprehensively support students from Grade 3 through High School End-of-Course assessments in mastering the content and skills needed for success. In English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR), the syllabus covers reading comprehension, literary and informational texts, grammar, editing, vocabulary, and structured writing for personal narratives and expository essays. The Math section emphasizes number operations, algebraic reasoning, fractions, geometry, data analysis, and real-world problem-solving, with a focus on Algebra I for high schoolers. Science topics include scientific investigation, matter and energy, force and motion, Earth and space systems, and biology concepts such as cells, genetics, and ecosystems. Social Studies addresses community, Texas and U.S. history, civics, geography, and significant historical events and figures. For grades 4 and 7, a dedicated writing section builds narrative and expository composition skills, grammar, and organization. Across all subjects, students engage in strategic exam preparation through time management, multiple-choice strategies, mock tests, vocabulary drills, and analysis of released STAAR tests. The syllabus is supported by structured resources like worksheets, quizzes, graphic organizers, and progress trackers to ensure thorough practice and confident test-taking.
